review lg g5

The most ambitious phone of recent years, LG's G5 is an incredible handset that finally stands shoulder to shoulder with Samsung's S7
Pros
Excellent modular design
Fantastic rear-facing camera
Stunning IPS display
Cons
Slightly dull display
Poor battery life without the battery module
crowd for its design. The once-flagship phone has since been discontinued and without downgrading to the LG G5 SE, you'll struggle to find the G5 brand new. However, a few eBay seller still list the phone in 'new' condition, and at £245 the G5 is an absolute bargain - read our original 2016 review for more details.
It was always said that having a modular phone would be impossible - especially one that appeals to a mainstream audience, by a large manufacturer. Let alone one that could integrate a full metal unibody and an interchangeable battery.
Many smartphone manufacturers didn't attempt it, where HTC didn't with the HTC 10, nor did Samsung with the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, among many others - but LG managed it with its LG G5.
How has LG achieved such a feat of technical wizardry? The key lies in a small button on the left-hand side of the ha
ndset. Press this, and you'll quickly notice that the whole lower section of the phone beneath the main display has just become a little looser, revealing the ingenious masterstroke of the G5's design. For unlike other flagship smartphones you'll see, the LG G5 is an altogether different kind of handset – it's modular
